Just to get started on fandom history, here’s a few resources that I’m looking at. Please leave any further resources in the comments and I’ll add them when I get a chance.
World Fandom
Wikipedia link, not very comprehensive https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Science_fiction_fandom
The invaluable Ansible https://news.ansible.uk/
Fanac is a truly amazing resource from Joe Siclari and a quick search for Irish science fiction fandom brought up 517 hits http://fanac.org/
The wonderful zine Then from Rob Hansen http://www.fiawol.org.uk/FanStuff/THEN%20Archive/archive.htm
And Rob Hansen’s main site: http://www.fiawol.org.uk/FanStuff/index.htm
Irish Fandom
This section to include links to sites which refer to fandom on the island of Ireland, from time immemorial to the present day
Search on http://fanac.org/ for Irish Science Fiction fandom to see lots of scans of fanzines, photos and more
I was pointed towards this embryonic but good resource recently http://fancyclopedia.org/Ireland?fbclid=IwAR35LwnFOlOu2aFI8GwmvcYUwHL8wflhvGR0u1TelrdrTXnTPegSKNsbiY0

Irish Small Press
In general genre small press publications in Ireland have been published by fans, crossing over between fanzine and semi-professional. The most prominent of these is Albedo One, started in 1994 and still going. Gorgeous website too. http://www.albedo1.com/
Irish Conventions
Of course it has to be, in its 30th year, Octocon: https://2020.octocon.com/
Good Wikipedia piece on some Octocons https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Octocon
